Back to Life

The 12th April saw Leigh on Sea life (and life across the UK) spring back into fruition. Leigh’s beloved independent shops flung open its doors for desperate shoppers, clinging to the hope of perusing shelves again. Pub beer gardens opened, outdoor spaces in cafes and bistros pimped up their exteriors, folded blankets over chairs ready for those willing to brave the cold. The atmosphere in the old town, the Broadway, Leigh Road - has been buzzing, it’s been a welcome relief to see its workers and business owners back on track.

Just some of the shops and eateries in Leigh on Sea that are currently open for business include:

THE CROOKED BILLET, OSBORNE’S CAFE & FISHMONGERS, YE OLDE SMACK INN, THE PETER BOAT, THE MAYFLOWER, SARA’S TEA GARDEN, THE HATCH, OTHER LETTERS, NATURAL EDGE, THE CORNER CLUB, BEST WISHES, LATHAM STREET, MR’S BARNES BAKERY, MILLY’S DELI, THE OAK TREE, GOURMET DELI, GREENS, SALTWATER BEACH CAFE, SURF CHALKWELL, INTREPID INTERIOR, GARRARD’S, LIQUID FLAIR, STOP THE WORLD, FELLINI’S, KILKIE’S….

So many others of course! Including our friends’ independent shops and eats in Chalkwell, Westcliff, and Southend such as STOKED, ANKE’S, PIE HOLE PIZZA, WEST ROAD TAP, the list goes on - so do your research and get out there (see our previous posts for business directory).

It’s vitally important to support our local shops, independent businesses, and start-ups. It’s something we’re passionate about here at space282, we support those brave enough to start their own businesses and even more so during a global pandemic! It’s not been easy but the last week has shown the strength, creativity, and versatility that is out there among our coastal business survivors. It’s inspiring and we hope it continues.

So book your table / have a mooch in the shops now! Remember to be safe and always #shoplocal….
