The future is flexible

This past 18 months has seen a lot of changes for us all, in our working life and life at home. Whether it be trying to juggle home schooling, parenting, the stark difference between you and your partner’s new regime, the effect on your mental health, on the mental health of those close to you, financial upheaval, there’s been A LOT. It’s no surprise that following this experience, several companies now expect staff to work more flexibly. A recent article in The Guardian about hybrid working states that, according to research from the Chartered Management Institute, half of managers expect staff to be in the office 2-3 days a week. While 48% of managers feared team members may quit if they could no longer work remotely.

With this kind of information in mind, what are the most successful ways for companies and their staff to move forward? Well, there’s no perfect strategy for hybrid working. Some employees we’ve spoken to have said their bosses have insisted on a set number of days a week, while others have provided much more flexibility to their staff. As Ann Francke, chief executive of CMI says in the article; “the most successful models will be the most flexible ones. Work should be about what you do, not where you do it”. It’s about time we all got the work/life balance right. This is something we care about at space282, it’s one of the reasons we started what we do. To provide a smarter, better way of working. If you give your workers, or yourself, greater flexibility, then not only are you improving their/your mental health – but also improved job satisfaction which leads to progress at work, and less absences or sickness in the future.

An example of the success and achievement we see in our spaces are those who start off simply hiring a desk with us in our co-working space, before moving up to our dedicated desk package then eventually a private office. When they feel the need to expand to a larger office, we can provide the space so there’s less stress and an easy transition, we take care of the hard work for them.

But really the importance is on flexibility and productivity, that’s what the workforce needs right now for an improved, healthier way of life for us all.

We have Dedicated Desk packages available at our Leigh Road co-working site now, details here

We also have Private Offices becoming available at our Nelson St site in Southend-on-Sea and our Elm Road site in Leigh-on-Sea, please get in touch for more information.
